Georgia Bulldogs Football: Its game week! Finally
Georgia Bulldogs Football: Its game week! Finally
Dagummit we are less than a week away from Georgia Bulldogs Football! I can not lie, for me, like most, this one feels a little different. This Saturday at 4:00 we tee it up against Arkansas in the confines of Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium. It seems like an eternity ago since the Dawgs took the field in the Sugar Bowl. A game the Bulldogs won handily by the way. Since then a lot has transpired, enough to slow it down, not enough to derail it.
A canceled season is the outcome many expected. With the cancelation of all spring athletics and the postponement of those in the summer, it sometimes felt like we were prolonging the inevitable. It seemed certain that the SEC would eventually follow the PAC-12 and B1G (both have since changed their stance) and pull the plug entirely. Negative, the SEC stayed the course, gathered data, and ultimately proved once again why it’s the greatest conference in all of the land.
Who’s ready for some football?
COVID guidelines have kept all media away from practice sessions thus far, so, when toe meets leather this Saturday, it will be our first opportunity to lay eyes on the 2020 Bulldogs. Taking the field will be many new faces. Many of those faces in key positions. Here’s what to expect.

The DawgCast Expands
Georgia Bulldogs Football: The DawgCast expands its Georgia football content into digital media. But will remain, by fans for fans.
Hey Dawg fans,
As a lot of you know the Dawgcast Podcast began broadcasting in October 2005. What started out as a hobby for Derek Leonard to provide UGA football-related content quickly caught fire, becoming a staple for UGA football talk amongst UGA diehards. For a long time, I was a loyal listener myself.
For many years, Derek and his former Co-Host, a grumpy fellow simply known as Old Dawg brought you Pre-Game and Post-Game shows every week during football season. It didn’t take long before each episode had well over 10,000 Dawg fans tuning in. Proving that this venture was much more than just a hobby.
On October 1, 2016, I had an opportunity to tailgate with Derek and his family at the railroad lot in Athens before the Tennessee game. In fact, that’s the first time you’d hear mention of me on the Dawgcast. Episode 418 to be exact. It was not long after that day that Derek was faced with having to replace a now MIA “Old Dawg” and after just a few conversations I was added to the show as his replacement. But really, that’s enough about us.
The Dawgcast, over the last several years, has grown at a rapid rate. Growing from over 10,000 listeners per episode to well over 20,000 per single episode. What started as an in-season, Pre-Game and Post-Game hobby has become a year-round, weekly outlet of content that’s delivered, unlike most others. The Dawgcast slogan has always been “by fans for fans” and that will never change.
Those tuning in can already see some changes within the podcast itself. Not only going to an active offseason schedule but the addition of interviews with former UGA players and other prominent voices around the UGA football community. The exciting part is, we are not stopping there. The Dawgcast will be sharpening our pencils as well. Or more realistically, dusting off our keyboards.
In the coming weeks, when you travel to Dawgcast.com, you will see an entirely new redesigned website. You will start to see articles written by myself as well as several others that will be contributing their time to provide you, even more, UGA related content. Odds are, if there is something going on around the team, we will be talking about it. We will truly become a 1 stop shop for “By Fans For Fans” UGA football information.
That’s right, By Fans For Fans, that part isn’t changing. We are not coming to compete with all of those that provide excellent UGA football news and information. Like Derek in 2005, we want to continue to blaze our own trail. Our fierce independence and undimmed support for the Dawgs will not change. No editorial boards, no big media corporate filters, just fans talking about their team. Just like you, Derek, and myself, each and every writer we have on-staff will share the same love for the team and players we discuss. While we will strive to provide you with honest and accurate information, it will be delivered by those that have an extreme passion for UGA football. It will not be filtered or censored by any advertisers, or press departments. That’s exactly how we will cover our Dawgs here at Dawgcast.com.
We truly love each and everyone one of you that have tuned in over the years and look forward to many years to come! We hope to see you all in Athens very soon. And as always, Go Dawgs!
